Spring Meeting

The joint Spring Meeting of the Texas Sections of the AAPT and APS and Zone 13 of the Society of Physics students will be hosted by the Texas Electronic Coalition for Physics March 6-8 in Corpus Christi. High school teachers are especially urged to attend and are welcome to apply for a limited number of travel grants by clicking on the link on the meeti ng web site. This year we will once again give awards for the best student papers. Students who are interested in having their papers judged should click on the li nk on the meeting web site.

The meeting will feature a High School Round Table focused on the revision of th e science TEKS, with a panel including Chris Comer, former TEA Science Director, and members of the Physics TEKS revision team. The High School Round Table will be Friday, March 7 at either 4:30 or 5:00 PM.

The Omni Marina Tower Hotel is an oceanside resort/conference hotel with beautif ul views and easy walking to the ocean and various attractions. We are getting t he State rate for the conference which is substantially below the normal rate. T he rates are good for Wed through Saturday evening if someone wants to take thei r family or spouse for a weekend trip. The rates on the rooms will go up substa ntially after Feb. 15!!
